Lucille Panmattee Kartick Obituary
Lucille Panmattee Kartick, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, on March 13th, 2025, at the age of 96. She will now be reunited with her beloved husband Charles who predeceased her in 1991 and with all her loved ones who have gone before. She was born in DeHoop, Mahaica, Guyana, on July 12th, 1928 to Balkaran and Naubasiya Singh and was the second child and eldest daughter of 10 children.
She was the beloved mother of six children, Richard (Faiza), Patricia (Compton Singroy), Lewis (Neeve), Cynthia (Charles Mattai), Edward (Chandra) and Rupert (Pia). She will be deeply missed by her 15 grand children Sherwin, Christine (Andrew), Natalie, Terrence (Sonja), Naiya (George), Mariea (Steve), Amara, Alicia, Anjelina (Alykhan), Neil, Shawn, Amanda, Colin, Nisha and Sonam, along with her 7 great grandchildren, Eliana, Olivia, Nicholas, Diana, Quinn, Azurra and Avani. Loving sister to Anjeline Singh, Pauline Cunje and Irvin Singh and was predeceased by Walter, Edwin, Mervin, Benjamin, Dasrath and Magdalene.
She was a beacon of kindness, generosity, compassion and caring and her home was always a welcoming place of hospitality and love. She loved her family and her extended family and did everything she could to stay in touch with them and to keep them close. You could not visit her home without her insisting that you stayed and share a meal with her, which she would have prepared in no time at all. Her kindness and thoughtfulness, without regard of background or belief, will forever be remembered by all the lives she touched along the way. We were so blessed to have her in our lives and to have her with us for 96 years. Her values were a shining example to all of us and she instilled in us how to be compassionate and to always lend a helping hand when needed, and to care for each other. She will be greatly missed by all of us who loved and cherished her.
Lucille Kartick was a lifelong congregant of the Ogle Presbyterian Church in Guyana and a founding member of the Trafalgar Presbyterian Church in Oakville, Ontario. She loved the Lord and spent many of her waning days listening to hymns and singing along to them.
We pray that she will be at peace in her eternal home in the presence of our Lord. Visitation will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will take place at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Streetsville, 295 Queen St. S, on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at 10:30 AM. A reception will follow at the church, where family and friends can gather to honour and celebrate her life. A private cremation will take place afterward.
