He was predeceased by: his wife Evelyn Jean; his son David; his parents, Robert Stanley Ranson and Frances Margaret; and his brother William George.

He is survived by: his daughter Pamela (Mark); his grandchildren, Kate and Liam; his siblings, Homer (Shirley), Stanley (Shirley) and Margaret (Larry); and his close friend Gloria Norrie. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
