He was predeceased by: his spouse Jocelyn Prévost Hébert; his parents, Victor Hébert and Cécile Foster; his stepmother Marie-Ange Patry; and his parents-in-law, Jean-Baptiste Prévost and Berthe Defoy.

He is survived by: his daughters, Nathalie Hébert Collins (Jeff Robertson) and Lisa Hébert Kirkland (Gord Kirkland); his grandchildren, Amanda Irvine, Joshua Collins (Grace Masell), Tara Collins (Martin Saunders) and Emma Kirkland; his sisters, Dométile Hébert (Guy Maltais), Françoise Hébert (late Guy Gauthier) and Guiselaine Boily (Robin Daigle); his siblings-in-law, Jean Prévost and Micheline Martel; and his nieces and nephews, Guylaine, Marie-Josée, Jean, Renée, Nancy, Annie P., Lucie, Annie D., Mélanie and Luc.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated in memory of René.
