With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Betty Florence Barkey of Orillia, Ontario, born in Elgin, Ontario, who passed away on January 2, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Donald Mitchell and Rachel MacArthur; and her grandson Stephen. She is survived by: her daughter Orillia; her husband Robert Barkey; her daughter Lorraine (late Peter); her grandchildren, Sarah (Alex), Michelle and Matthew (Hannah); her great grandchildren, Abel and Odin; and her nephews, Douglas (Laura), Rick (Chris) and Kevin (Qing).
Visitation was held on Friday, January 9th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Simcoe Funeral Home (38 James St E, Orillia, ON L3V1L1). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 9th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, January 9th 2026 from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at the St. James Cemetery (320 Coldwater Rd W, Orillia, ON L3V3M1).
Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Calvary Pentecostal Tabernacle would be appreciated.
