He was predeceased by: his parents, John Smith and Marion Smith. He is survived by: his wife Ruth; his children, Cory Vanderveen and Keziah Pilger (Dennis); his grandchildren, Denver and Sophie; his nephews, Mason, Grayson and Nathan; and his sister Dianne Dodson. He is also survived by his many, many cousins, friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mundell Funeral Home (79 West Street N, Orillia, ON L3V5C1). A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mundell Chapel (79 West Street N, Orillia, ON L3V5C1). The inurnment will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the St. Michael's Cemetery (7975 ON-12, Orillia, ON L3V0B5).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor David's memory by spending time outdoors or lending a hand to someone who needs it-just as he so often did.
