He was predeceased by: his son Floyd; his grandson Ian; and his brother Donald Mathers. He is survived by: his children, John Mathers and Katherine Cruise (Tom); his grandchildren, Paul, Kristina, Sarah, Steven, Carling, John Jr., Troy (Lori), Melissa, Lia (Mathew), Jenna (Nick) and Katherine (William); and his siblings, Ina Grimshaw (Eddie), Phillip Mathers and Gwendoline Winkworth. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and for two great great grandchildren.
