He is survived by : his spouse Jean Brennan; and his siblings, Peter Lynch and Ann Broadrick. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

As per Richard's wishes, he had arranged for the donation of his body to science via the University of Toronto, Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be made to Couchiching Conservancy (https://couchichingconserv.ca), 1485 Division Road, Orillia, On L3V 0X6.
