He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Verna Thomson; his children, John Hewitt, Doug Hewitt (Dorothy), Jim Hewitt (Judy) and Leslie Hewitt (Murray); his grandchildren, Justin, Kurtis, Jordan, Aaron Sarah (Sheri), Joshua (Amber), Joanna, Drew (Lydia), Kelsey (Mike), Kacey, Kaleb, Brodie and Brett; and his great grandchildren, Carter, Devon, Emmett, Owen, Wesley, Tyson, Damian, David, Isaiah, Adelynn and Primrose.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to Hospice Simcoe, Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital or the Hillside Baptist Chapel would be appreciated by the family.
