He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James McFarlane and Anna Robertson; his siblings, James O'Neil (Christine McGarry McIsaac) and Sheila Tait (Marilyn MacDonald); his sons, Scot and Ryan; and his grandchildren, Evan, Caleigh, Owen and Vera. He was also cherished by many brothers, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate that memorial donations be made to the Canadian Parkinson Society or ShareWord (formerly known as the Gideons).
