Lorraine Mary Campbell Obituary

Lorraine Mary Campbell (formally Magee) was born December 3rd, 1948 in Montreal, PQ and died July 5th in Oshawa, ON at the age of 73 from end stage renal failure.

She leaves behind her daughters Tracy (Jason) Robyn and Samantha and 5 grandchildren, Kalia, Paige, Alexia, Thomas and Emmy and is predeceased by her parents, Crichton Campbell and Rose Marie Proudfoot Campbell. Lorraine is survived by her 3 siblings, Peter, Patricia and Malcom, as well as her nephews and niece. `

Our mom was tough, resilient, a fighter - having overcome multiple serious health complications over the years and hanging on for weeks in the palliative care wing of Lakeridge Oshawa despite having discontinued dialysis. A “medical miracle” the doctors all said and we are so very grateful that we were given this additional time with her.
Our mom was kind and compassionate and loved people and animals. She never met a dog she didn’t want to adopt or a stranger she didn’t want to help or befriend.
She was funny and had a great sense of humor and an acerbic wit (she would love that we are using that word to describe her).
She was intelligent and well read - books were her favorite pastime. She had a great sense of style, loved her bling and couldn’t pass up a good sale or a trip to Value Village.
Our mom was spirited, stubborn and a force to be reckoned with on most days, living her life and accepting her death on her terms.

Our mom will be missed by so very many people whose lives she touched. She had a warm beautiful smile and for those of you who were fortunate enough to have known her, you will feel an ache in your heart similar to how we are all feeling right about now.
We know that she has found her peace after a life well lived and loved and is rocking a color coordinated outfit with accessories somewhere soaking up the sun and looking down on us …

A special thanks to the nurses and PSWs of 4F at Lakeridge Oshawa Hospital who provided the care, compassion and empathy our mom required in order to maintain her dignity in the end.

As per her wishes, Lorraine will be cremated and her ashes scattered on her beloved childhood mountain.

A celebration of life for family will be held on Thursday, July 14th 2022 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Courtyard by Marriott Oshawa (1011 Bloor Street East, Oshawa, Ontario L1H7K6).

In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the Ontario SPCA in Lorraine’s name.
