It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Allan Desmond Read (Ottawa, Ontario), who passed away on December 27, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Theresa Murphy; his parents, Gertrude Read and Harry Read; and his siblings, Earl, Kenny (late Ann), Mary, Howard (late Carmel) and Margaret (late Edwin).
He is survived by: his children, Barbara-Ann (John Fulton), Madelaine, Donna Lee (Dirk Vieira) and Audrey (Sean Leclaire); his grandchildren, John, Jamieson, Jacqueline Fulton, Arielle, Aidan Vieira and Connor Leclaire; his brother Ed (Carmel); his sister-in-law Helen Read (late Earl); Frank, Mary, Don Cooney, Vincent, Leona, Lorne Watters, Bridget, Roger Perreault, Joan, Ian Fraser, Audry, Carl Killeen, Jim Murphy, Carmel (Ed Read), Rose (late Mike Campbell), Doreen (late Frank), Helen (Bryan Kennedy) and Noreen Murphy (late Vincent). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, January 7th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the St. Isidore Catholic Church (1135 March Rd, Kanata, ON K2K1X7).
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Allan's memory to Parkinson Canada or Shepherds of Good Hope would be appreciated by the family.
