He was predeceased by: his son Nicholas Sarmatzis; his siblings, Helen Dudas (George), Koula Sarmatzis and Vasilis Sarmatzis; and his parents, Nicholas Sarmatzis and Fotini Sarmatzis.
He is survived by: his children, Freda Philippe (Denis), Koula Cove (Max) and Vassiliki Mitchell (Gary); his great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Ellwood, Charlotte, Cooper, Kinsley, Zayden, Zahra-Mae and Lyla-Ann; and his daughter Harper. He is also survived by his family, his friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church (1315 Prince of Wales Dr, Ottawa, ON K2C1N2). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 at 11:45 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, September 9th 2026 at 2:15 PM at the Pinecrest Cemetery (2500 Baseline Rd, Ottawa, ON K2C0E3).
