He is survived by: his family, Kate Holmes, Rob, Harry Morrow (Ottawa), Sean, Matthew, Sam, Andrew Holmes of St. Cloud, MN, Julian, Dawn, Louis and Chelsea Robinson of Bedford, U. K.. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Derek's contributions to the game as a player, coach, and builder were recognized when he was inducted into The International Ice Hockey Hall of Fame (1999), the Kemptville District Sports Hall of Fame (2012 and 2017), and the Ottawa Sports Hall of Fame (2021).
