He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Nielson and Dorothy Nielson; his spouse Beverley Nielson (Parmeter); and his brother Gordon Nielson. He is survived by: his daughters, Laura (Paul Senecal) and Donna-May Nielson (Michael MacDonald); his grandchildren, Haley, William and Matthew MacDonald; and his sister Dorene Matsalla (late Ed). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at the Capital Funeral Home & Cemetery (3700 Prince of Wales Dr, Ottawa, ON K2C3H1). A memorial service was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM at the same location. The inurnment was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 from 12:45 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A reception was held on Friday, September 26th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location.
