With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Edith Merkel of Ottawa, Ontario, who passed away on February 4, 2026 at the age of 103. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the vast expanse of eternity, may Edith find peace everlasting, cradled in the gentle embrace of the universe. And as we stand on the shores of remembrance, may her legacy inspire us to live each day with purpose, passion, and profound gratitude for the gift of life itself.
She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Paul Frederick and Mary Frederick; her siblings, Gertrude and Walter; and her children, Frances (Mike), Carl (Gerry), Elizabeth, Ruth (Marc) and Betty (Sven).
