He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Michelle Gagnon (Mimi); his children, Paul (Gabrielle Dupuis), Claire and Redmond (Shakira Essoa); his granddaughters, Gloria and Michelle (Mimi); his parents, Redmond O'Brien and Margaret O'Brien (Foran); and his siblings, Elaine Marlin (Randal), Michael (Marie), Gregory (Beth), Rosemary and Nora. He was also cherished by his siblings, parents-in-law, siblings-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, February 3rd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & Mc (315 McLeod St, Ottawa, ON K2P1A2). A funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, February 4th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Holy Canadian Martyrs Church (100 Main St, Ottawa, ON K1S1C2).
