We announce the death of Gisèle Bernadette Barrette (Ottawa, Ontario), who passed away on October 6, 2026, at the age of 79. Gisèle will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Gisèle will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Gisèle will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Gisèle’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Doralice Barrette and Azarie Barrette. She is survived by: her child Kai-Lei Samchuck (Brian Schnarch); her grandchildren, Zéphyr (Maxime Servant) and Saima Samchuck-Schnarch; her siblings, Carmen, Claude and Benoit Barrette; and her sister-in-law Catherine Barrette.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 7th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & Mc (1200 Ogilvie Rd, Ottawa, ON K1J8V1).
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society (https://cancer.ca) in memory of Gisèle would be appreciated by the family.
