He was predeceased by: his parents, Esther Lavell (Burke) and John J Lavell; his sisters, Alma Lavell and Lorene Farnand (Gordon); and his niece Joanne Farnand.

He is survived by: his sister Patricia Lavell; his niece Pauline O'Dwyer (Gary); and his nephew John Farnand (Maureen). He is also survived by 7 great nieces and nephews and 13 great great nieces and nephews.
