She was predeceased by: her parents, John Simeon Empey and Emily Jane Empey of Ottawa; her former husband J. Leo Villeneuve; and her husband Victor A Archer. She is survived by: her daughter Lorraine Swan (Paul); her stepdaughters, Deborah McGrath (John) and Karen Ford (Rob); her grandchildren, Susan, Jeff, Debbie (Eric), Ashley, Chris (Roxane), Emily, Benjamin, Madison and John-Alan; and her great grandchildren, Vanessa, Brandon, Cassandra, Samuel, Aria and Aidan. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and close friends.
A memorial gathering was held on Thursday, May 7th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Pinecrest Cemetery (2500 Baseline Rd, Ottawa, ON K2C3H9). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 7th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Thursday, May 7th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 12:45 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her memory to the Ottawa Humane Society and/or Canadian National Institute for the Blind would be appreciated.
