He is survived by: his wife Diane; his son Scott Newman (Ana Bjermeland); his stepsons, Kris Brookes (Sonia) and Scott Brookes (Caitlin); his sisters, Jane, Sally and Susan; and his grandchildren, Gunnar Bjermeland-Newman, Addison, Ella Brookes and Sloane Brookes. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Pinecrest Remembrance Services (2500 Baseline Rd, Ottawa, ON K2C3H9).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada (https://alzheimer.ca) in Ian's memory.
