He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parent Portrush; his wife Marilyn; his sons, Alan (Kathleen), Brian (Jennifer) and John (Elizabeth); his stepchildren, Chris (Annie) and Melissa (Jonathan); and his grandchildren, Stacey, William, Mariel, Maya, Anya, Emily, David and Felix.

He died as the result of non-Covid complications from a fall on December 14, 2020.
