It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Valerie May (Rathwell) Burton of Ottawa, Ontario, who passed away on October 5, 2025, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though Valerie may no longer walk among us, her spirit lives on in the echoes of her kindness, the warmth of her embrace, and the light of her enduring love.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Bill Rathwell and Lillian Rathwell (Kelso) of Ottawa. She is survived by: her significant other James Burton (Jim); her children, Kim Giffin, Bob Giffin (Ruth), Meredi Rymes (Meindle) and James Burton (Ginnette); and her siblings, Shirley Dillabough (late Gary), Joan McGrath (Pat) and Ronnie Rathwell (Betty).
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Pinecrest Remembrance Chapel (2500 Baseline Rd, Ottawa, ON K2C3H9).
