He was predeceased by: his wife Florence; his children, David and Bonnie Small; his sisters, Ida Patterson and Joan Dungey; and his siblings-in-law, Betty Abercrombie (Edwin), Marlene Harper (Bruce), Leonard Patterson, Don Carmen (Etta), Harvey, Jack, Keith, Ken and Gordon Gillies (Mary Lou Burke).
He is survived by: his children, Robert (Deb), Ron (Nancy), Mary Beth Sutton (Glenn), Dorothy Grotenhuis (Wayne Morris) and Jim (Theresa); his sister Velma Bramhill (Bob Rundle); his siblings-in-law, Mervin Gillies, Art Dungey and Betty Gillies; his grandchildren, Steven Small (Julie), Rob Harper, Becky Harper (Oliver Delima), Allison Wierenga (Jason), Scott Harper, Brett Harper (Eryn Stewart), Stacey Belmore (Mark), Dale Sutton, Amanda Sutton, Katelyn Arsenault (Cam), Daryl Grotenhuis (Pat), Shawn Grotenhuis (Kelly), Tim Grotenhuis (Jessy), Jacqueline Harper, Diana Harper, Andrew Harper and Jonathan Harper; and his great grandchildren, Owen, Christopher Small, Henry, Logan, Nico Wierenga, Seth, Aaron, Jesse, Caleb Grotenhuis, Maddox, Emmett Grotenhuis and William Grotenhuis.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 23rd 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the England Funeral Home (294 Main St S, Mount Forest, ON N0G2L2). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 24th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Mount Forest United Church (175 Queen St E, Mount Forest, ON N0G2L2). A burial will be held on Thursday, May 21st 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Mount Forest Cemetery (411257 Southgate Sideroad 41, Mount Forest, ON N0G2L0). When you arrive for the service, there will be a staff member to assist you with Covid Screening.
