He was predeceased by: his parents, Nikolai and Hilma; his wife Connie Simola; his daughter Trudy; and his siblings, Tauno (Linda), Taito (Christine) and Leah.
He is survived by: his great grandchild Jordan; his children, Brian Simola and Brinda Higgins; and his grandsons, Dylan, Tyler (Laura) and Harley Higgins. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, April 30th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Foley Memorial Cemetery (53 Rankin Lake Rd, Parry Sound, ON P2A2W8).
A Graveside Service and Interment will take place at Foley Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, April 30th at 2:00 P.M. In remembrance of Niilo, donations to Alzheimer Society Muskoka would be appreciated.
