He was predeceased by: his wife Vera Melcher; his granddaughter Colleen; his brother Ray Melcher (Brenda); his stepbrother Willis Rutz (late Helen); and his parents, Wilfred Melcher and Elsie Melcher.

He is survived by: his children, Oral Melcher (Alice) of Rankin, Gail Schryer (Robert) and Neil Melcher (Susan) of Sherwood Park, AB.; his grandchildren, Dwayne (Jennifer), Joshua, Hilary Melcher, Jonathan Melcher, Emily Travanut (Tony) and Stéphane Schryer; and his siblings, Gladys Lyons (late Joseph), Evelyn Cain (late Hal), Freda Kathen (late Nelson), Marie Brady (John) and Kenneth Melcher (Darlene). He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, his nieces and nephews.
