He was predeceased by: his parents, Hiram Shantz and Clara Shantz (Bannon); his wife Joan Shantz; and his siblings, Helen Szabo (Bill), Eldora Kompf (Bob) and Harold Shantz (Anne).
He is survived by: his children, Gregory Shantz (Margaret), Charlene Shantz Tepker (John) and Paul Shantz (Hope); his grandchildren, Angela, Stacy (Brendan), Christopher, David (Alexis), Jason, Julia (Chris) and Haydn; his great grandchildren, Vivian and Hailey; and his brother-in-law Garry Irwin (late Jackie). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
