He was predeceased by: his parents, William (Bill) and Jennie; his brother Russell; his nephew William (Billy); and his cousins, Bruce and Bryan.

He is survived by: his wife Marlyn; his sons, David (Cathy) and Blair (Lisa); his grandsons, Derrick (Corey), Kevin (Skye) and Travis; his great grandchildren, Ada, Lucy, Dawson and Lyle; his sister-in-law Marilynn Dow; his niece Karen Read (Rob); his nephews, John Dow (Stephanie) and Alex Dow; his siblings-in-law, Sandra and George Holmes; and his nieces, Leanne Holmes (Jim) and Julie Holmes.
