He was predeceased by: his parents, Melba Farrell and Shaun Farrell; and his siblings, Barbara and Michael. He is survived by: his wife Jane; his children, James, Shannon (Alex) and Chris (Sue); the parent of his children Laurie (Russ); his grandchildren, Joshua, Zachary, Ciara, Liam and Shaun; his sister-in-law Audrey; and his nephews, Tim (Christin) and Jeff (Melissa).

He can be remembered through donations to the Alzheimer Society of Lanark Leeds Grenville in lieu of flowers.
