Cameron Bonner Obituary

In Loving Memory of Cameron Bonner With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Cameron George Eber Bonner, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who departed this world on July 13, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on May 6, 1935, in Peterborough, Ontario, Cameron was the son of Russell and Helen Bonner and the loving brother of Bryce (wife Linda) Bonner.

Cameron's life was built on love, laughter, and an unwavering devotion to his family. He married the love of his life, Evamary Carrie Bonner (Redout), and together they built a life filled with family, friends, hard work and joy over their almost 66 years of marriage. Cameron was a dedicated father to his three children: Scott (wife Bev), Barbara, and Gord (wife Kellie). He was the proud grandfather of 4, who brought endless enjoyment and pride to his life: Paige, Brad, Alex, and Jack.

Cameron lived a life defined by a strong work ethic, continuous learning, community service, and resilience. Growing up on the family farm, Cameron learned the value of hard work, purpose and education. He went on to graduate from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education, beginning a teaching career that reflected his lifelong commitment to learning and service. He began teaching in a one-room school in Cavan Township, later joining the Scarborough Board of Education, where he ultimately became Principal of John A. Leslie Public School. In 1976, Cameron retired from education and returned to his roots, becoming a full-time farmer for the next 50 years.

In addition to his professional life, Cameron was deeply involved in his community and in agricultural organizations. He served as the provincial Director for the local Ontario Federation of Agriculture, Vice Chairman of the Ontario Agriculture Training Institute and Chairman of the Christian Education Committee of Centreville Presbyterian Church and Secretary Treasurer of Centreville Presbyterian Cemetery for over 40 years. Those who knew Cameron will remember a caring heart, and relentless determination. He found joy in the simple things in life; a quick conversation, a good joke, a community picnic or sitting on his veranda at the farm enjoying the view and sharing stories with his wife and loved ones. His life was a reminder of the importance of compassion, principles, fairness, and the bonds we share with one another. Whether through family gatherings, friendships, work, community, or everyday moments, he left a lasting impression on many lives.

A service to celebrate Cameron's life will be held on August 15th, 2026, at 11:00am at Highland Park Funeral Centre (2510 Bensfort Rd, Peterborough, ON). Visitation to be held from 9:45 to 10:45am prior to the service. Following the service a luncheon and an additional time to visit with the family will be held in the reception room. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance, share stories, and honour a life that meant so much to so many. A livestream of the service will be available through the following link https://together.oneroomstreaming.com.

In accordance with Cameron's wishes, he will be laid to rest at Centreville Presbyterian Cemetery in a private ceremony with family following the celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice or the Centreville Presbyterian Cemetery in his memory.
