He is survived by: his wife Rosemary Newell (Pilon); his children, Marie (Paul Visser), Mark Armitage (Louise), Michael Armitage (Tracey), Lisa (Tony Walker), Laura Adamson (Rod Marshall) and John Armitage; his siblings, Richard Newell, Lynda (Charles Maw), Leyone Edmondson, Ron Newell (Cathy), Tim Newell (Sharon) and Margaret (Clifford MacPherson); his grandchildren, Jessica, Spenser, Connor, Amber, Jesse, Danielle, Alex, Nicole, Justin, Jordan, Shannon, Kaitlyn, Taylor, Sidney, Brad, Jarrett, Camryn and Addison; his great grandchildren, Justin, Paisley, Benji, Ophelia and Brier; his friend Bob Burton; his sister Eleanor Damant (Ford); his friend Tony Bowen; and his family Earl. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
