He was predeceased by: his siblings, Eileen Brunson (late Charlie), Noreen Givlin (late Paul) and Patrick (Vina). He is survived by: his wife Dorothy; his children, Cathy, Colleen Hammond (Mike), Gerald, Maureen Whetham (Stewart) and Richard (Jane); his grandchildren, Andrew (Iva), Peter (Sharon), Kenneth (Kassia), Samantha, Jamie, Matthew, Edward, Douglas and Oliver; his sister Virginia Staton (late Jack); and his siblings-in-law, Carol Nickel (Willy), George Hudson (Elaine), Helen Marlow (late Russ) and Frances Caster (late Robert).
