He was predeceased by: his children, Sherry Elson and Danny Elson; his parents, Wilfrid Elson and Helen Elson; and his siblings, Cameron Elson, Paul Elson, Kathryn Donevan, Marg Elson and Frances Wright.
He is survived by: his child Kim Elson; his grandchildren, Tammy Elson (Ben Rinne) and Danny Jr. Elson; his great grandchild Madison Rinne; and his sister Edith Carr (Fraser).
