He is survived by: his wife Grace; his children, Catharine (Philippe) and David (Jo-Ann); and his grandchildren, Alexandra, Johnathan, Andrew, Callum and Sarah. He is also survived by many extended family members and friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Nisbett Funeral Home (600 Monaghan Rd, Peterborough, ON K9J5H9). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, July 23rd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.

Memorial donations may be made to the Peterborough Humane Society or the Lakefield Animal Welfare Society in John's memory.
