He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Thomson and Dorothy Thomson; his brother Brian (Jean Ann McCaughen); and his mother-in-law Pam. He is survived by: his wife Sandra; his siblings, Thomas, Kathryn Trustham, Steven (Ilan) and Karen Taylor (Joe); his sisters-in-law, Brenda Ireland and Melinda Clarke (Cal); his father-in-law Gary Schinkel; and his nieces and nephews, Lindy, Ashley, Cory, Timothy, Shannon, Samantha, Brian, Daniel, Dylan, Kayla and Joey.

In memory of Michael, donations to The Bridge Hospice in Warkworth would be appreciated, or to a charitable group focussed specifically on glioblastoma research and support.
