He was predeceased by: his daughter Barbara Monahan (Robert); his parents, Alfred Dowson and Bessie Dowson; and his siblings, Edna Deshane (Harry), Ora Reader (Owen), Ralph Dowson, Bernice Palmer (Garnet) and Jack Dowson (Mary Lea).
He is survived by: his wife Mary (Reader); his child Beverley Reid (Ted); his grandchildren, David, Andrew Reid, Kyle (Kelley) and Justin Monahan; and his sisters, Jeanne McNulty (late Neil) and Doris McMillan (Mac).
