Most of all, though, I was struck by his kind and sensitive commitment to the community he served. Not surprisingly it led to many's devotion as they looked forward to seeing and sharing their lives with him each week. He made such a difference. I often commented to the other volunteers how calm and patient he was, despite having so many responsibilities and how often we called on him for direction. “I'd like to share my time with Ryan. I volunteer at the Common Table program in Toronto. Ryan helped keep us organized and was regularly called upon by us older women to do all the heavy lifting - pots of soup, coffee urns, etc. He was a pleasant man to have on the team. I am so sad to hear of his death. From this time onwards the pain of losing him shall walk hand in hand with your love for him. Please know that he is remembered with fondness. Barb Scott”
