He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Der and Elisabeth Van Der (Broderode); his wife Evelyn Van Der (Thomas); and his brothers, Dick, Tony, Martin, Ronnie and Andre.

He is survived by: his children, Betty McDougall (Pat), Teresa Carron (Roy), Casey Van Der (Ester), David Van Der (Connie), Jeff Van Der (Terry) and Chantel Vanlentino (late Paulo); his grandchildren, Jamie McDougall, Lisa McDougall-Broad (Kyle), Ryan Van Der (Melanie), Sara Belanger (Jeff), Katelyn Van Der Gulik, Josh Van Der Gulik, Peter Van Der (Tracy), Shane Van Der Gulik, Samantha Van Der Gulik, Cassandra Van Der (Don), Natasha Van Der Gulik, Nicholas Van Der Gulik, Sam Jr. Carron (Shelley), Nicole Peltier (Denny), Mandy Smith (Rob) and Amy Legroulx (Jason); and his brothers, Peter Van Der (Marie) and John Van Der (Jan). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

As an expression of sympathy, donations to the Alzheimer's Foundation may be left at the funeral home.
