He was predeceased by: his parents, Morley Istead and Vera Istead; his spouse Pat; his son Alan; and his sisters, Pat Kingsley and Rosemarie Leavitt.

He is survived by: his children, Karen of Bancroft, Gayle of Cherry Valley, Gary (Cathy) of Moira, Sandra (Steve) of Picton, Wayne (Laurie) of Picton, Valerie (Steve) of Belleville, Peter (Sandra) of Ottawa and Mark of Bloomfield; and his sister Oralee Fagan (Terry) of Smiths Falls. He is also survived by his 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
