We announce the death of Joan Ellen Barnes (Port Perry, Ontario), who passed away on September 25, 2026. Joan will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her spouse Thomas Francis Barnes; and her parents, Gordon McLagan and Kathleen Morgan. She is survived by: her children, Thomas Barnes (Wendy) and Jody Smith (Bill Abbott); her grandchildren, Gordon Smith (Claudia), Cori Fox (Aaron), Kathleen Cochrane (James) and Jaclyn Muir (Jim); and her great grandchildren, Isabelle, Charlotte Cochrane, Cameron, Benjamin Fox and River Muir.

The family requests that donations be made in support of the Port Perry Hospital Foundation in lieu of sending flowers.
