He was predeceased by : his parents, Levi Byer and Jennie Byer; his daughter Angela; and his siblings-in-law, Lynn and Val.

He is survived by : his wife Mary Leone Wilson (Wilson) of Port Rowan, Ontario; his children, Stephen "Sebastian" Charles Byer (Fred O'Neil) of Port Rowan, Ontario and Anita Marie Pawelski (Paul) of Cassopolis, Michigan; his grandchildren, Duane Byer, Melissa Byer, Jamie Byer, Ethan Pawelski and Joel Pawelski; and his siblings, Barbara Thomson of Dorset, Ontario, Marie Albrecht (Dave) of Baden, Ontario, Eldon Byer (Marilyn) of Tillsonburg, Lewis Byer (Debby) of Cochrane, Ontario and Nelson Byer (Lillian) of Tarzwell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
