He was predeceased by: his wife Donna (Strongman); his parents, Ina Buchanan (Howey) and Anthony "Tony" Buchanan; his brother Arthur "Tupp" Buchanan (late Joyce); and his parents-in-law, Jean (Dunstan) and Don Strongman.

He is survived by: his children, Michael (Tanya) of Arnstein, Kimberly (Terry Summers) of Port Loring and Tara (Scott Hampel) of Port Loring; his grandchildren, Ashley (Dan), Geena, Cole, Jayden (Kyra), Dylan, Kaleb (Josee), Kirystyn, Megan, Lily and Shaylynn; his great grandchildren, Chelsea and Lauren; and his sister Valerie Kikkajoon (Jaak) of Moonstone.
