He was predeceased by: his wife Thelma (Boughner); and his siblings, Harold, Les, Charlie, Jack, Russell and Clarence Deforest.

He is survived by: his children, Marten Deforest (Heather) of Corbeil, Howard Deforest (Mary) of Mattawa, Randy Deforest (Carolyn) of Fergus, Terry Woods (Welly Hughes) of Mattawa and Robert Deforest (Deborah) of Grand Valley. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
