He was predeceased by: his son Justin Alkerton; his parents, John Alkerton and Alta Alkerton; and his brothers, Gordon and Michael Alkerton.
He is survived by: his daughter Amanda Alkerton Moore (Matthew Moore); his grandchildren, Jocelyn Moore and Peyton Moore; his sister Deborah Alkerton; and his former wife Teresa Alkerton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
