It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Laurene Velma Thiel-Whigham-Smith of Saint-Marys, Ontario, who passed away on October 31, 2025, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Lloyd Thiel and Annie Thiel (Fischer); her daughter Diane Laurene Meitz; and her brother Orval Lloyd Thiel. She is survived by: her husband Ronald L. Smith; her children, Sheryl Ann Whigham of Paris and Steven George Whigham (Kiersty) of Paris; her son-in-law Tim Meitz of St. Albert, Alberta.; her grandchildren, Megan Gillingwater (Andrew) of Brantford, Ontario, Amy Pamplin of Paris, Ontario, Jamie Whigham of Hagersville, Ontario, Melissa Whigham of Edmonton, Alberta, Eric Meitz of St. Albert and Jason Meitz (Janelle) of Calgary, Alberta.; her great grandchildren, Noah, Leo Gillingwater of Brantford and Elyse Meitz of Calgary, Alberta.; and her sibling-in-law Majorie Thiel of Stratford. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 4th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the St. Marys United Church (85 Church St S, St. Marys, ON N4X0A6). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, November 4th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
