He was predeceased by : his parents, Frank Gies and Irene (Haffner); his siblings, Helen Esbaugh (Clair), Gertrude Zettel (Gerald), Grace Zinger (Wilfred), Marie Korway (George), Florence Logozny, June Cowan (Al) and George Gies; and his parents-in-law, Ednamae Gies, Bill Quehl, Don Quehl (MaryAnne), Kaye Koebel (Bob) and Marjorie Lorentz (Jerry).
He is survived by : his wife Gertrude (Quehl) of St. Clements; his children, Bev, Jim (Adrianne), Brenda Langenecker and Christine Lowater (John); his grandchildren, Lindsey, Lora, Tyla Langenecker, Brooke, Alexis Lowater (Danny), Reagan and Avery Gies; his siblings, Eileen Quehl, Ken Gies (Terry) and Frank Gies (Marilyn); his parents-in-law, John Logozny and Debby Gies; and his caregivers, Jen, Muriel, Dr. Richard Upenieks and Dr. Janet Zettel.
