He was predeceased by : his wife Joan Smith (Whaley); his stepson Robert Lawrence; his parents, Herbert Gordon and Margaret Laverne Smith (Ion); and also, Clarence Smith and Gordon Smith.

He is survived by : his stepchildren, Margaret Jeffery (Paul) and Jeff Lawrence (Kim); and his stepgrandchildren, Myranda, Carter, Owen, Graydon and Hudson.

Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
