He is survived by : his significant other Judy Lindberg; his children, Cary, Ted and Niki; his grandchildren, Morley, Quinn, Leo and Henry; and his daughters-in-law, Julianne and Janice.

“I'm so sorry to hear of John's passing. He was one of my favourite people in the Lambton Outdoor club for the last 25+ years - in fact he led the first hike I went on, back in 1996. I'm trying to learn Hungarian, and John would help me by speaking it with me when I saw him, and also through emails. He emailed me every year on my birthday and that meant a lot to me. A very thoughtful, caring person. He will be missed by many.”
