He was predeceased by: his wife Doris (Zielske); and his daughter Carol Ann Long. He is survived by: his son Michael Long (Dorothy); and his granddaughters, Melissa Long (Taylor Carnahan) of Port Elgin, Sarah Joyce (Michael) of Chatham and Amanda Hanna (Shawn) of Belleville.
