She was loved and cherished by many people including: her husband Dr. John Joseph Dugan; her children, Jennifer Bates (Andrew) and Jeffrey Dugan (TuLe); her grandchildren, Hudson, Maddy, Stella Bates, Aaron, Tori, Lilli and Holli Dugan; and her brother Sergio Spisani.

“We were extremely saddened by Silvana's passing. She bravely battled her cruel disability most of her adult life and it ended up disrupting her career as a brilliant educationalist . Through it all she cared deeply for, and cherished her family. Her husband John was instrumental and loving in assisting her and looking after her every need, we deeply admire him and thank him. May her memory strengthen her family and be a blessing to all who knew her.”
