She was predeceased by: her husband Jozef Goertz; and her siblings, Wim van Bommel (Truus), John van Bommel (Annie), Louie van Bommel (Anna), Toon van Bommel (Toos), Paula Koolen (Ted), Karel van Bommel (Jaantje), Frank van Bommel, Maria Boogaart (John), Joe van Bommel (Joey), Anthony van Bommel and Pieter van Bommel.
She is survived by: her grandchild Shirley Olney (Pat); her children, Katie (Tyler), Robyn, Melissa, Steven Goertz (Susan), Ryan, Samantha, Teagan, Kevin Goertz (Nicola), Lucas, Sagan, Randy Goertz (Tina), Kaisley, Keaton, Terry Goertz (Deanne), Nolan, Austin, Dylan and Paxton; her brother Martin van Bommel (Antonia); her caregiver Wilma; and also Liz Boere. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, May 2nd 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the McKenzie & Blundy Funeral Home (431 Christina St S, Sarnia, ON N7T). A Mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 at 12:30 PM at the Our Lady of Mercy Roman Catholic Church (390 Christina St N, Sarnia, ON N7T5V9). A burial was held on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 at 1:30 PM at the Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery (1190 Glen Allen Dr, Sarnia, ON N7V3N5).
